Devin Thornburg, joined Herstory after having been Full Professor of Education at Adelphi University, and now Senior Adjunct, teaching courses in psychology, culture, language and learning, always within the frameworks of social justice and human rights. He has been involved in educational reform for three decades, writing about teacher-student relationships and roles in diverse settings. He is particularly focused on ways in which outcomes from programming can be the basis of robust evaluation and research activity, leading to more meaningful change in schools. He has been deeply involved in collaborations with community-based organizations in the U.S. and other countries all of his professional life. In recent years his focus has been on the experience of immigrant students in educational settings as well as those who educate them.
